This award carries a Full tuition stipend that will be applied directly against your tuition (it does not cover fees) and it contemplates that you will move into and continue to reside in the state of New Jersey. You will be eligible for reappointment of this Dean's Academic Scholarship award during your second and third years (or fourth year if you are a part-time student), contingent upon your maintaining an overall academic average that is in the top 40% of your class during your first academic year of study at Rutgers, and for each academic year thereafter. After matriculation, if you choose to live outside New Jersey, your scholarship award will be calculated and adjusted to the then current in-state tuition rate. If your grade point average should go below the top 40%, you would still maintain a scholarship in the amount of $10,000 each year as long as you maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (part-time student's renewability at 3.0 shall be prorated).
This scholarship is not transferrable to any other school within the Rutgers system or outside of our Law School.
The Law School is committed to high academic scholarship and community service. Receipt of all Rutgers scholarship awards therefore carry a commitment that you successfully complete one of the law school's externships, clinical courses or devote at least 40 hours to one of the many pro bono projects available at the school prior to graduation. It is our hope, and our nation's hope, that you will benefit from this experience and, as a successful lawyer, integrate the pro bono ethic and community service into your careers and lives.
For our incoming students, this scholarship award is one of the highest recognitions of academic achievement.
