Peter Erdely has successfully tried hundreds of cases, both civil and criminal. This includes winning scores of jury trials.
Prior to founding the his own firm, Peter served as a prosecutor with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. In eight years with the Office, Peter rose through many divisions, including the Repeat Offenders Unit, Federal Litigation Unit and Major Trials Unit. He prosecuted over 40 major jury trials to verdict. He also tried hundreds of bench trials, and over one thousand preliminary hearings. Peter’s jury trials include winning a 65-130 year sentence against a gunman who robbed 13 women and children in a nail salon. He also won the first animal cruelty jury trial conviction in Philadelphia history, against a man who was running an extensive dog fighting ring from his home.
Before joining the District Attorney’s Office Peter worked at large law firms, most recently White and Williams LLP. There, he litigated major cases in Federal and State Courts, including commercial insurance coverage, bad faith, agent errors and omissions, business interruption, property loss, insurance fraud and subrogation. Peter obtained numerous successful judgments for his clients on insurance coverage disputes. Peter assisted a major international insurance carrier in drafting a risk management guide to accompany the launch of a novel e-commerce/intellectual property insurance product. Peter has drafted, argued and won numerous appeals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey appellate courts.
Prior to at White and Williams LLP, Peter worked at other firms, where he litigated products liability, toxic tort, wrongful death and construction cases in Federal and State courts. Peter won a summary judgment motion for a major university and numerous contractors, dismissing the claims of eight plaintiffs claiming catastrophic brain damage due to alleged exposure to toxic solvents. Peter successfully argued that the claims were “junk science.”

Recently, Peter lectured at the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences regarding Constitutional search and seizure law. Peter has trained certified DNA analysts to testify as expert witnesses in rape cases, and has trained Philadelphia Police Department narcotics officers on how to testify as expert witnesses in drug cases.
