General Educational Objectives of the Externship Program
The Law School clinics and externships strive to help develop in students the art of lawyering by teaching skills and values, and by engaging students fully with the intellectual, pragmatic, ethical, and personal issues that arise in the practice of law. The Externship experience can help students accomplish these goals in at least the following ways:
Upper Level Lawyering Skills
Lawyering skills in Practice Externship
Practice Externships offer opportunities to meet the requirements of Academic Rule 7A, which requires each student to complete an Upper Level Lawyering Skills course. Note that the Lawyering Skills rule applies to students who began their law study after June 2007; skills designation for Practice Externships will be developed during the 2008-2009 school year and be effective for externships beginning in Summer 2009.

Applications for the Fall term 2013 will be due as described below under Appliocation Process." An informational meeting will be held WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, when you can meet representatives of many placements. On-ine applications will be due by Friday, March 29.
