Matthew H. Adler is a partner at Pepper Hamilton LLP in Philadelphia and Princeton, where he concentrates in commercial disputes. He chairs Pepper Hamilton's practice group on international arbitration and litigation and is a member of the Firm's Executive Committee.
Mr. Adler has litigated or arbitrated cases involving the governments of Russia, China, the Czech Republic, the Congo, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Canada, Chile, the former East Germany, and other countries, as well as business disputes involving companies in Europe, Asia and South America. He has appeared before the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, the International Chamber of Commerce, the London Court of International Arbitration, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the American Arbitration Association, and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.
Mr. Adler served in the Office of Legal Advisor at the United States Department of State from 1986 to 1989 where his practice included representation of the United States before the Iran-US Claims Tribunal at The Hague. He is a member of the Secretary of State's Advisory Committee on Private International Law, where he has participated in a working group on a multilateral judgments enforcement convention, a member of the American Bar Association's Section on International Law, and a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has published on arbitration and judgment enforcement in European and American journals, including the Northwestern Journal of Interntional Law & Business, The International and Comparative Law Quarterly, the Georgetown Law School’s Law and Policy in International Business, the U.S.-Mexican Law Journal, and the Fordham International Law Journal.
Mr. Adler is a 1980 graduate of Cornell University and a 1983 graduate of the Columbia University School of Law.
