Program Information
Transfer Students
Students in good standing transferring from ABA-approved law schools may receive credit toward the degree of Juris Doctor for work entitled to credit in their former school. Transfer students may apply online or obtain a standard application from the admissions office.
Courses completed with a grade of C or better are transferable and a maximum of 41 credits may be transferred. Applications are accepted for the fall semester. Only students with at least one full year of academic credit may be considered for admission at midyear. Students wishing to transfer mid year must apply for visiting student status if all prior law grades are not received by mid December.
Transfer applicants must provide a letter from the dean of the law school previously attended stating that the student is in good standing and is eligible to continue. Also required are an official transcript, class rank (if available), copy of the LSDAS report and a letter of recommendation from one of the student's law professors. A statement of the candidate's reasons for requesting transfer also must accompany the application.
Students applying for the Fall semester may not take summer classes at their law school as grades do not become available in time to render a decision.
Visiting Students
Upperclass students at other accredited law schools may apply as visiting students for no more then one academic year's credit to transfer back to their degree-granting law school. Students must complete all requirements listed under "Transfer Students" and also must submit a letter from the applicant's dean both authorizing the student to attend Rutgers School or Law-Camden and acknowledging that the transfer credits will be accepted.
