Construction Activity Report   10/23/06

At an October 20 Construction Progress meeting, I learned the following information which should be shared with the entire law school community:

  1. The new glass panels for the east facade of the library bridge have been delivered and the sub-contractor will be here to install them commencing on Wednesday, October 25. These window panels will replace the temporary plywood sections which have been in place since the old steel truss was removed from the bridge exterior back in July. The installation process will involve some noisy activity and thus students may not wish to work in the bridge open-seating area during the three or four days needed to complete this work.
  2. I'm sure by now that everyone is quite weary of all the disruptions caused during the demolition/excavation phase of the construction project, but I can now happily report that the next phase of work is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 30, when structural steel begins arriving on site. Immediately thereafter the new building will begin to take shape and the steel skeleton should be fully erected by the end of December 2006.
