Construction Activity Report 11/8/06
At an October 20 Construction Progress meeting, I learned the following information which should be shared with the entire law school community:
Dear All,
I know that in recent months there have been two or three accidental water shutdowns due to construction activity. I can assure you that our contractor is keenly aware of the inconvenience caused by those events and appreciates the entire community's patience and tolerance during those difficult times.
My purpose in writing is to let everyone know that another shutdown is required, because the original drawings showing the location of the water main which supplies the law building proved inaccurate. This water main must be now be relocated to accommodate one of the foundation support structures for the new Fifth Street Atrium entrance.
The work will begin in the early morning and the estimated time to complete the job is 8 hours. To minimize inconvenience, the water shutdown has been scheduled for Friday, November 10, when the fewest classes are in session. In addition, arrangements have been made for the third-floor stairwell in the far northwest corner of the law library to be open on Friday for access to the fourth-floor restrooms. Appropriate signage will be posted on the third floor to direct everyone to these facilities.
