Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Project

This student run program is sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, which for the past eight years has provided comprehensive training each January for the students. They subsequently provide assistance to low income Camden residents needing help to fill out basic state and federal income tax returns. For the three months prior to April 15th, students go to the Camden Public Library two nights a week to staff this project. Student sign up sheets are posted on the Pro Bono bulletin board on the first floor of the law school.

Pro Bono Research Project

The Pro Bono Research Project offers free legal research services to public interest law practitioners. The goal of the project is to match 2L or 3L law student researchers with supervising attorneys and organizations that can benefit from the students' legal research skills. Students, and this project will initially be limited to eight students, may provide written or oral legal analysis or may gather legal research materials such as judicial decisions or legislation.

Immigration Pro Bono Project

The Immigration Pro Bono Project includes two prongs:  in the first, trained, supervised law students provide legal assistance and advice to community members. In the second prong, trained law students visit sites in the community to provide informational sessions on various topics such as accessing public entitlements, interacting with police and immigration authorities, etc.
